The Path to Authenticity
Our deepest need as humans is to feel seen, heard and valued for who we truly are. - Brené Brown

I have asked myself this question quite a lot: If I were my authentic self, would I be taken seriously? Would I be perceived as "too much" or "too laid back"?
The reason many of us hold back from expressing our true selves is because we are in an environment that doesn’t encourage authenticity.
For instance, I used to be all smiley and goofy 😝 ‘cos you know, life is not that deep. Until I realised that my smiley face unfortunately was perceived as a weakness in a certain kind of environment. So, I learned to “bone” 😠 until it became second nature.
We live in a world that often rewards conformity over authenticity, a world that oftentimes interprets authenticity as weakness.
Brené Brown puts it beautifully: our deepest need as humans is to feel seen, heard and valued for who we truly are.
Yet, the fear of being rejected by others often leads us to hide behind masks of perfection or a more acceptable version.
So, how then do we express ourselves authentically despite society's expectations and pressures?
