The Grasshopper Mindset
๐๐ก๐ ๐ฐ๐๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐ฌ๐๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ก๐จ๐ฐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐๐ซ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ๐ฌ. If you see yourself as a grasshopper others will see you as one. If you see yourself as a lion, you will release the energy of a lion and others will perceive you as one.
๐๐ ๐ฌ๐๐ฐ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐ฏ๐๐ฌ ๐๐ฌ ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ฌ, ๐๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญโ๐ฌ ๐ก๐จ๐ฐ ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ฆ.โ ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐๐:๐๐๐ (๐๐๐).
Each time I read the story of the twelve spies in the Bible, I find this verse very thought-provoking.
Twelve leaders were selected to explore the land of Canaan (the promised land) and were to report back to their community after forty days of scouting.
Their report started positively, โ๐ข๐ญโ๐ฌ ๐ ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ค ๐๐ง๐ ๐ก๐จ๐ง๐๐ฒโ. Great right? No, not for them. They went on to say โ๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ๐โ. Ten of the spies even took it further, comparing themselves to GRASSHOPPERS before these giants.
Itโs easy to read this story and judge them for seeing all the good in the land yet negotiating themselves out of the promise through their grasshopper mindset. ๐๐จ๐ฐ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ, ๐ก๐จ๐ฐ ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ฌ ๐ก๐๐ฏ๐ ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ฌ๐จ ๐ง๐๐ ๐จ๐ญ๐ข๐๐ญ๐๐ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐ฏ๐๐ฌ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐จ ๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง๐ข๐๐ข๐๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ข๐๐งโ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ค ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ , ๐จ๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฐ๐๐ซ๐๐งโ๐ญ ๐ ๐จ๐จ๐ ๐๐ง๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก ๐จ๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ข๐๐งโ๐ญ ๐๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ๐? ๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ข๐ง๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ก๐๐ฏ๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ฌ ๐.
I am learning to catch this grasshopper mindset really quickly when it shows up. In 2024, I will not negotiate myself out of opportunities because there are โgiantsโ there.
Finally, did you notice the last line of that verse? It says โโฆ and thatโs how we ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ to them.โ ๐๐ก๐ ๐ฐ๐๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐ฌ๐๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐ ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ก๐จ๐ฐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐๐ซ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ๐ฌ. If you see yourself as a grasshopper others will see you as one. If you see yourself as a lion, you will release the energy of a lion and others will perceive you as one.
As we start a new week, I want you to reflect on two things:
๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ๐๐ญ: what limiting mindsets have you held on to for so long? Itโs time to let them go! 2024 has opportunities with your name on them, would you embrace them or sabotage them?
๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ: who are you? Your beliefs about yourself determine how you will present yourself to others. And how you present yourself to others is how you will be perceived.
